Ajax Santa Claus Parade

Finding the Parade...

I received an e-mail from my friend Ross Cannata, inviting Judi and me to a surprise party. In the e-mail he also suggested that we might like to join he and his family at the annual Ajax Santa Claus Parade. We accepted his invitation, for both. After the party, we all piled into our cars and were off to the parade. The traffic to the parade route was very heavy. Ross’s wife, Cathy, was driving and fortunately she knew all the back roads. After several twists and turns we found parking spots fairly close to the parade route!

The Parade...

The main route for the parade was on Harwood Road. Both sides of the street were lined with eager children and adults. A party atmosphere filled the air, especially when the first of the parade participants reached our area! First in line, were several police vehicles, with their lights flashing. Fire department vehicles followed and then the rest of the parade. The parade contained a wonderful mix of marchers, bands and floats. Since this was a night parade, all of the vehicles and floats were decorated with thousands of colourful lights! Judi and I had never been to a night parade before, so this was quite a spectacle! As the parade progressed, Judi mentioned how much she was enjoying it! She told me that it was one of the best Santa Claus Parades she had seen. I asked her why she thought that, and she told me that the parade had a great “community” feel. Its participants included lots of parents and their kids! She said, "yes there were plenty of floats and bands, but she enjoyed the laughter of the kids the most"! This was especially brought home when Santa’s float reached us and the Ajax Santa Claus Parade was now over for another year! It’s hard to believe that Christmas is only a month away! Ho Ho Ho !!!
